Lenten rose?

Some one I know has a Lenten rose and I have a perfect place in the garden for one, but its February and you can only sow the seeds from September to November, I don’t fancy waiting that long so is there a faster way of propagation?

(there isn’t really a good place to take a cutting the only type of stem really is a stem of flowers with a couple of small leafs, if I took a leaf of and treat that as a cutting (the leaf is like on a stem) would it strike and shoot from the sides?

The Lenten Rose (Helleborus orientalis) can also be propagated by division.

Alice B. Russell, retired Extension Specialist, NC State University says

it can be propagated by division in spring:

Michigan State U. Extension states:

"Division is done in spring or fall but the roots are brittle and easily injured."

This source from Floridata (Tallahassee, Florida) says to divide in late summer or autumn.

Yikes!!! If grown from seed ... seedlings take three years to bloom.

http://www.floridata.com/ref/H/hellebor....

"Plants can be divided in the spring taking care not to damage the brittle roots and making sure that part of the crown is left with each piece."

Here's how:

Reply:1. good things come to those who wait

2. my mother used to take a piece of a rose, push it into the garden and turn a jar over the piece to help maintain moisture %26amp; protect it from the elements. She had good success starting roses this way.

Do rose hair tarantulas bite?

I just got a rose hair tarantula %26amp; i was wondering if anyone knows if they bite.......or any information i can get on them would be great! Thanks in advance.

Do rose hair tarantulas bite?
They can bite, it hurts somewhat like a bee sting from what I've heard..

It's best just to be careful when you go to handle them, there are ways to tell if they just don't want to be held..

I highly recommend you read through this care sheet on them since most pet stores and online care sheets are totally inaccurate and fail to take into consideration where this tarantula is from. Most places tell you to mist them regularly, but, these tarantulas are from a very dry climate. Misting them regularly can cause fungus on the book lungs..

Here's a great link on Grammastola rosea..

And, another one on handling..

AND, finally more basic tarantula info if you find yourself addicted to the little guys..

I really like mine, I have about 40 and they are some of the easiest pets out there to keep.. Their are so many species of them that there seems to be no end to the variety available..
Reply:they can if provoked, they are not that venomous unless your allergic to them. The worst is they let loose there hairs and those darn things can ITCH like crazy!!
Reply:Not often and only when provoked. Extremely itchy if they shed on you though

Is there such thing as the rose flu?

I'm writing a special story and I came up with the idea of rose flu for it. Is there really such thing as rose flu? If there's not, THAT'S GREAT!!! I don't want to use a type of flu that's real for this story. So does anyone know if rose flu is real, and if not, what is a type of flu that's not real?

This is in Books and Authors because it's for a story.

Is there such thing as the rose flu?

A Rose For Emily by William Faulkner --- Thesis statment needed?

I am writing an essay for my English 12 class, and we need to come up with a thesis analysing a poem or short story. I chose to do A Rose For Emily by William Faulkner. I NEED A THESIS, HELP!!

A Rose For Emily by William Faulkner --- Thesis statment needed?
In the short story, A Rose for Emily, William Faulkner creates sympathy for Emily through narratation, setting, and circumstance.

This lines up your whole essay.

1. Intro

2. Narration- third person, you can't see why Emily killed him, can sound more sympathetic rather than demented

3. Setting- the South created Emily, made her prideful and alone

4.Circumstance- her father died, her wealth diminishes, Homer wants to leave, etc.
Reply:What does the rose signify for Emily in the book entitled A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner.
