Beginning in 2007 Pete Rose can be considered as a candidate into the Baseball Hall of Fame by the "Halls Committee on Baseball Veterans" (basically those in the hall)... do u think they will allow him to be a candidate???

I was thinking about planting my pink don juan rose on the east side of my house which has some shade in the afternoon. Does this rose tolerate some shade?

I have been a Pac 8/10 fan since childhood, and so the Rose Bowl has always been the biggest bowl for me, until they started the BCS. And this year it's a traditional Pac 10 vs Big 10 matchup in the Rose Bowl, and even though I can't stand USC and am neutral about Michigan, I'll be watching.
The scenery at and around the Rose Bowl is the best of all the bowl games: the weather is almost always sunny, the aerial shots of the stadium are great with they way they paint the end zones in each team's colors, and the San Gabriel Mountains behind the Rose Bowl add to the scenery.

Think about it, the Big 12 Championship, the SEC Championship, the ACC Championship, even the Mac has a championship. If your team is in one of these Conferences then you have realized a long time ago that that one game alone can be considered a playoff game. My team is Texas and a couple of seasons ago they were headed to the B(C)S Championship game. All they had to do was beat on Colorado and most of you knew what happened. I'm sure many of you have a similar story about a team you followed. So to all the teams in the Big 10, Big East, Pac 10, and Norte Dame a playoff system would just kill you. So the rematch of Michigan and Ohio State should be the Big 10 Championship. But I'm sure if Michigan lost by 3 they would want a 3rd game just to make sure.

If you gave it to her it would come off as more or less a hand me down kind of thing. Show her that you really do think about her and go buy her some roses, or flowers. I got my rose hair a mouth and a half ago from a pet store. At first she wouldn't eat anything so we had to send her to a spider specialist. So we've had her back so a week or so and now theres this small white glossy egg looking thing one in the corner of her cage. I heard she's coming back for three episodes. Personally I think this is the worst news in the history of the world and the mere thought of a reunion has ruined my life. How many people actually think this is a good idea?

Rose from Titanic...?
Yeah, Titanic. We all know the story, but I really would love a movie about what Rose was up to after she dried out, before she got old. Anyone else? I know it would be a "Fried Green Tomatoes" style movie, but I'd go see it.

Every picture tells a story, what stories do those pictures tell? In no way would this take away from the movie Titanic. The story would be completely different. You wouldn't even need Kate Winslet. You could use different Actresses to play her at different ages. Start before Titanic, when she's a child, skip Titanic, and take it up from there. :-)

The blooms don't look like a traditional tea rose but more like a wild rose.

These roses are fool proof and require very little in the way of human attention aside from an occasional watering and pruning. I've been growing roses for 20 years now and have begun purchasing only Earth Kind roses because of these facts. These roses come in many varieties like Knock out, English, Hardy, grandiflora, floribunda...etc. However, I doubt you will find any Hybrid teas because they are the neediest of rose breeds.

I was wondering if someone could advice on the right choice. I will be travelling to visit my girlfriend in a foreign country. And after this visit I will not see her for about 10months.
However, we will continue communicating; with this in mind, I am confused if I should give her an artificial or real rose?
Personally, I am a fan of the artificial rose cos it lasts. But I know there are experts out there that can agree with me or suggest otherwise. Pls I need your advice.

My question has to do with my rose bushes. When do I mulch them?
I was told by a landscape company not to put mulch around my rose bushes until all the leaves are off of them. I have 12 rose bushes which surround my patio and last week we had a very bad ice storm, sleet and freezing rain, even got one inch of snow. The rose bushes hung in there throughout all of this but to this day still retain their leaves. I was told to put mulch as high as one foot around each rose bush but only do it after the leaves are gone. Any good advice would be helpful and I thank you for whatever you send my way.

Yes, mulch them heavily, I think one foot is excessive, in the winter enough to cover the nodule just above the ground well. I don't wait til all the leaves fall, just til they start turning. They have been thriving this way. In the spring, rake back all the mulch to expose the nodule.

I pruned my rose bush last winter, it started to have green leaves early this spring and then we had a hard freeze. The leaves are now all brown. Is the bush dead, or should I try to prune it back some more?

I've been friends with her for 6 months, gonna meet up for lunch soon and I was thinking of giving her a single white rose and saying when I give it to her "This is to our lifelong friendship"
She just got back into town and is going outta town again far soon to study. The reason I want to give a rose is cuz shes been one of the unique girl -friends- I've had in my lifetime. Always kind, nice and caring. Most girls I know havent been like this. She doesn't always respond back to my texts immediately but usually does the same day, and I get the feeling she only wants to be friends which is OK with me I guess

The two things it did tell us is that it's an almost certainty that Davros will be returning to Doctor Who.
The second thing, that is even more interesting, is that Rose is coming back...but she doesn't just come back. The Doctor and Donna both know Rose is going to return...in other words she must make contact with them before she actually returns to tell them. This is very interesting because it means she can't just pop in and out of reality's which was the impression given at the end of Partners In Crime, which makes me ask another question: Was Rose really looking for the Doctor at the end of Partners in Crime? Did she know he had been there? And if she wasn't looking for the Doctor what was she doing there?

I think she could - she stared into the Heart of the TARDIS which no one has ever done - she managed to bring Jack back from the dead and if he is not immortal, his life is very long. Why couldn't Rose have the same benefit? maybe she is pretty close to immortal already?

Jack is not immortal - I won't spoil it for you, but there were things revealed and that happened already. Rose is not immortal b'cse she never died and brought back subsequently. Jack died and she brought him back to life while she had the TARDIS' power in her - which is how he became immortal.
I think it could be made to make her immortal (deus ex machina) - but I see no value in that. Being immortal is not all its cracked up to be. :) Just watch Peter Davidson's Enlightenment episode...

supposedly, the doctor has thirteen lives to spare and tennant is only the 10th doctor. i doubt that they would be able to kill off the doctor permanently. plus the money coming in from the doctor who series is ASTOUNDING! i always tell ppl to just check on youtube for clips. Rose Dissapearing? (Doctor Who)?
Does Rose Dissapearing have anything to do with that episode or one soon after?

Well, Rose is apparently appearing properly in the final three episodes of the current series. That was a big surprise for me last night. I certainly didn't expect her to make an appearance in the first episode.
Looks to me like she is somehow leaking through the barrier between dimensions, but that the link is unstable, so perhaps she only has a limited amount of time before she goes back. Or perhaps she's managed to visit our dimension as a hologram (similar to what the Doctor did in "Doomsday").
Anyway, it looks as if the barrier that the Doctor closed in "Doomsday" is beginning to break down again, and I reckon that will become very important later in the series. If Rose can come back from the other dimension, does that also mean the Daleks and Cybermen can return from the void?

Rose petal turning black, is this normal?
Hello, I just bought a Mister Lincoln red rose and planted it last Tuesday, but now the bud are opening with a black color on top. Is this normal, will the color eventually turn red? I watered it only last Tuesday thoroughly when I planted it and haven't done so again. I live in the Atlanta region and it has been warm since Wednesday, with 82F today, but I don't think water is the problem or may be I'm wrong and it needs more water already. Or may be it's normal for the bud to trun black on the top!

Some roses are a different color on the petals edges,I wouldn't worry about it unless the rose blooms out and is not the expected color.Then you may have a problem but just give it a few weeks to see most roses are very hardy.Yes all roses take water but not too much to get it settled in.About once a week on the watering.

Yesterday was great ole valentines day and i went to go over my girls to pick her up and i noticed a rose sitting on her window sil and i asked her whos it was and who gave her it...
She said that she went to the store to get roses for her pops who is disabled for her mom and the lady through in one extra rose and she just bought it.... the thing is her rose looks alot newer then the roses her mom has...the roses her mom has are brown on the edges and bloomed hers not newer and not bloomed yet...should i worry ...what do i do?

It sounds like you have insecurity issues. I'm curious, do you find yourself questioning her faithfulness to you more than once? Sometimes you have to trust. My girlfriend thinks I still sleep around and that's that I live with her and spend every moment we're off together. It will probably take a lifetime to convince her but yeah, don't let it get to you. IF you do find out she is, then i'm sorry, it happens. But usually that isn't the case. Good luck!

It sounds like you have insecurity issues. I'm curious, do you find yourself questioning her faithfulness to you more than once? Sometimes you have to trust. My girlfriend thinks I still sleep around and that's that I live with her and spend every moment we're off together. It will probably take a lifetime to convince her but yeah, don't let it get to you. IF you do find out she is, then i'm sorry, it happens. But usually that isn't the case. Good luck!

Who would you pick #1 if you were the BULLS GM?

They absolutely need to take Derrick Rose here. He's the best player in the draft and Beasley isn't big enough to play power forward or center for a NBA team. Not to mention last year the Bulls drafted Joakim Noah (6'11") and Aaron Gray (7'0") and midway through the season traded with Cleveland and got Gooden (6'11"). The Bulls are stacked at the Guard position and would be much better off drafting Rose and using some of their 6 other Guards as trade bait. I've heard talks of trading for Carmelo whic wouldn't be a bad move for them, but we do need a big guy to score in the paint. The Bulls would be stupid to pass on Rose.

Tyson Chandler was with Chicago and was mediocre, at best. But, he's blossoming with New Orleans and will only get better. Eddy Curry is playing better in New York than he was in Chicago. Tyrus Thomas has so much athletic ability and so much potential, but the Bulls play him 6-8 minutes per game. At the end of the season, when the playoffs were out of reach, Thomas should have been on the floor for 48 minutes getting all the experience he could; instead, he spent most of his time on the bench. He'll be a monster stud player with another team, but Chicago is not the place for him, which makes me very sad as a lifelong Bulls fan.

Rose haired tarantula?
I adopted a rose hair from someone who couldn't take care of her anymore. She is by far the most interesting pet I've ever had. I was nervouse holding her the first few times but she's never bitten me, and we hang out great! I gave her a great new habitat with eco soil, a cork bark hut, vines and leaves... but I'm not familar with the diet. I got a gut load cricket drink that says tarantulas can drink from it aswell... but I don't see her drinking... and of the dozen crickets I put in her cage, she doesn't seem to have eaten a single one.
Is she getting ready to molt? Am I doing something wrong? She's moving around and seems happy, but I want to make sure I'm taking care of her right!

Reply:Unless the place where you bought the roses screwed up, it could be : if they are hybrid roses, and you trimmed them too hard, you may have cut back to the "original" rose. When hybrids are developed, another color is grafted to an original rose, and when combined, a different color. If you trim, you are cutting off the graft. But, most likely, there was a mistake at purchase because I never heard of a yellow rose coming from a pink one..............check back to where you bought them.

It is most likely that the graft has been damaged and the plant has reverted to a wild variety. If you live in a cold climate, be sure to mulch around the plants for the winter months. she's three years old, rose gray. her name is jedi... i'm looking for an arabian stud horse in mississippi, i won't dare send her out of state. l love her too much, and i wouldn't be able to go with her. i don't know wether or not this makes any difference, but she has bloodlines to a really old, probably dead (but supposed to be significant in some way) show horse named Bask. (english accent) She's not yet broken, but i've ridden her twice- once with a saddle and once bareback. (i don't think she likes bareback very much tho... cuz i was bucked off... lol!) if you have any connections or tips on my next riding adventure, please feel free to write. i'd appreciate it tho if you would olny give good, friendly advice... i don't need any spam... but then again, who really does?

Have you considered looking into buying a weanling that has similar bloodlines to your mare rather then taking on the risk and responsibility of breeding?

If you want a foal that bad, save a life and adopt a homeless foal rather than bringing another life into this overpopulated equine world and putting your young filly through the rigors of pregnancy.

Since she is not broke and only three, you really cannot say how good or not she may be as a horse, be it show or just riding. I would get her broke and going good under saddle and wait a few years before I would even consider breeding her. And please do not breed her just because you can. There is already a major overpopulation of unwanted horses now without adding more into the mix. I do realize that everyone thinks that if they breed their horse, they will keep the foal forever and it will grow up and replace mare. But way to many times, it turns out that novice horse people wind up getting rid of the foal, since they do not have the knowledge to handle one. And they take a lot of work. From birth to riding, figure spending at least 10 hours a week working with this foal, 52 weeks a year to get them to the point of being ready to ride. Not to mention the shots, feed, and other upkeep. Why not just enjoy your mare, get her broke and turned into a solid equine citizen, then a few years down the road, maybe buy another young horse. Figure that you spend $1000 to breed to a good stud, $250 for mare care to get her in foal, another $1500 feeding a pregnant mare for a year, $500 for vet bills (and this is an uneventful pregnancy). You are in this baby $3250 before he ever draws a breath. And with horse prices in the tank right now, you are way better off buying one, Then you get the color and gender you want. Breed her if you must, but please think about first.
