Rose haired tarantula and salmonella & new baby?

We have a rose haired Tarantula and are due any day with our 1st baby. I had seen a horrible story of a little boy that became serousely ill from a reptile the family had because it carried Samonella the baby was permently brain damaged from the illness, it got me to thinking does trantualas carry salmonella? I know that reptile pets are likly to be out of thier cage interacting with the family unlike our spider which stays in its cage 100% of the time and when ever the take is cleaned our hands are washed immediatily but the cage has wire mesh lid so I dont know does salmonella get in to the air to wear even if we did wash our hands and leave the spider in there the baby could still get sick?

I don't know if spiders carry samonella. Try asking in the pets section. You may get better answers...sorry. I didn't even know tarantulas had rose colored hair. That's really cool. I would think as long as it is always in the cage and if someone handles it they wash their hands afterwards, the baby should be fine. I have not heard of a case of a spider carrying a parasite or disease or bacteria. But we are dog people...I am def no spider expert.
Reply:its doubtfull your tarantula has salmonella but you still dont want to bring it near your newborn as it may leave behind its urticulating hairs on the baby or you, if you handle your spider be sure to wash your hand after wards to prevent passing the hairs from yourself to the baby
