Some one I know has a Lenten rose and I have a perfect place in the garden for one, but its February and you can only sow the seeds from September to November, I don’t fancy waiting that long so is there a faster way of propagation?
(there isn’t really a good place to take a cutting the only type of stem really is a stem of flowers with a couple of small leafs, if I took a leaf of and treat that as a cutting (the leaf is like on a stem) would it strike and shoot from the sides?

2. my mother used to take a piece of a rose, push it into the garden and turn a jar over the piece to help maintain moisture %26amp; protect it from the elements. She had good success starting roses this way.

Do rose hair tarantulas bite?
I just got a rose hair tarantula %26amp; i was wondering if anyone knows if they bite.......or any information i can get on them would be great! Thanks in advance.

It's best just to be careful when you go to handle them, there are ways to tell if they just don't want to be held..
I highly recommend you read through this care sheet on them since most pet stores and online care sheets are totally inaccurate and fail to take into consideration where this tarantula is from. Most places tell you to mist them regularly, but, these tarantulas are from a very dry climate. Misting them regularly can cause fungus on the book lungs..

Blue Rose Of Sharon?
Has anyone had success with the blue version of the rose of sharon in zones cold as 4?

Reply:I think it's an up grade from the Purple Rose of Cairo, but I don't think it can match the Tulip of Toledo with the new Pentium chip.
Reply:I had one last a few years. Then I think we had a drought and lost it. I think the purple does much better and is more tolerant of our weather extremes. I also have a white one that does great.

Reply:If you can try to make a micro-climate for it it should be ok. By this I mean someway growing it so it will be proteced adn think it is in a higher zone.
Sometimes this can be done by growing it close to the house especially if it also has an evergreen or fence to the side so the winds don't get to it.

Reply:Not had any experience with the Blue Satin, which looks gorgeous but don't know the hardiness rating of it. It is supposed to be as true blue as they get.
I have Blue Bird, the old variety, and it is pretty blue. Very fertile though, and as a surprise, this year in the old stand of Blue Bird, a couple of young plants bloomed for the first time--one a true, beautiful pink, and a pure white one! I don't even think that there is another Rose of Sharon in my neighborhood, guess it is just a gift of Nature. I garden in Zone 6b
Reply:Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus) is hardy in USDA hardiness zones 5-8. They are pretty easily damaged by colder weather, and definitely respond poorly to drought, especially in the fall. I'd look as some newer cultivars, that have been released from the National Arboretum. They are reported to be 'hardier' than older cultivars. I don't see a 'blue' one, but perhaps you might find one you like?
They are named for Greek myths (Aphrodite, Minerva, Diana, Helene... not sure if there are others).
I live in USDA hardiness zone 5, and have no problems with the cold here (drought yes). If you heavily mulch the plant, maybe protect it with a wind screen, you might have luck. I would definitely say, eventually the weather is likely to catch up with you.

Here's the reasons why there's a spread that large for a BCS bowl game-
1. Illinois has no passing game. making them one dimensional.
2. Yes Juice is a good QB, and will develop over time, but USC did a very good job in containing the best spread QB this year, in Dennis Dixon.
3. USC is top 3 in Rush defense, and is very experienced all around.
4. USC has the one of the quickest defenses around, while the Ilini has an experience offensive front, they haven't seen a defense this quick this year.
5. Illini's pass defense is not exceptional, meaning Booty and his much improved WR's should get plenty of yards, and opportunties to go deep.
6. USC offense as a whole is good all around w/ their blue-chips.
Personally, Illinois should never have been chosen for any BCS bowl. It would have been nice to see a USC-Georgia or -Oklahoma game.
If the Illini do upset the Trojans, it would be because the Trojans did it to themselves by not taking this game seriously. But I think they've learned from their Stanford loss.

Floyd Rose Trem on my Strat?
Can I put a Floyd Rose tremolo on my Fender Strat (Mexican made) without doing any woodwork?? if not how much might it cost for a professional to do it for me?? Thanks!

Your Strat will need to be modified for the Floyd system. The system extends back towards the tail and some routing must be done so the tremelo will work. It wouldn't be hard to do, if you have some woodworking experience and want to refinish the part that gets routered.

She's been offered a role in the upcoming FOX series Drive. I'd guess she's gone, at least for now. But at least they didn't kill her off. I think they intentionally left the door open in case Drive doesn't work out.

Stinking Rose?
The last time I was in SF ate at a resturant called the Stinking Rose. I believe it was in the North Beach area. Does anyone know if it is still there? And what do you think of the food?

Need to know wether a normail strat tremelo bridge will fit on a body routed for a Floyd Rose one. Anyone?

Nope. Usually Floyd Rose tremolos require additional body routing behind the tremolo, so you'd need to fill in those spaces behind the tremolo with wood before you could install a standard Strat-style tremolo.
