Pete Rose: In HOF or not?

Do you think Pete Rose should be in the Hall of Fame? Why or why not?

Pete Rose: In HOF or not?
Haven't you taken the time to read the messages and questions posted here at Yahoo? This same question has been asked many hundreds of times. Please, delete the question as it has become a major bore to all of us.
Reply:that comment was extremely rude! why don't you just answer the F*%^ing question?. Its just yes or no Report It
Reply:Yankee is right. That same question has been asked a million times. And by the way, nice language! Report It
Reply:NO..........if he did what they said he did hell no and even if he did bet the way he claimed.....no.....he knew damned well that what he was doing looked suspect......hey anyone ever hear this line before? "It wasnt me, youve got the wrong guy im innocent!" Stupid people say it when they get caught and dont have the balls to stand up and say "MY BAD"
Reply:No.

Why not? Baseball simply won't let it happen period. it's a moot issue. Baseball no longer considers him an issue.
Reply:As long as guys like Ty Cobb are in the HOF Rose should be.
Reply:Good question! I think he should be because other players that are in the hall now have probably cheated in some way too. For example, in the old days of baseball people used pine tar and corks and all kinds of stuff. They also threw spit balls. People still do that today, but not often. They also get caught if they do. Pete did not use performance enhancing drugs like Barry bonds or lots of other people. If Barry gets into the hall then i think that gives Pete even more chance to get in. he broke a rule, but so many other players did too and they are in the hall.
Reply:This question should be banned from Yahoo Answers just like Pete Rose is banned from baseball.

No! for the umteenth gazillionth time

He is BANNED
Reply:Yes. He cheated OUTSIDE of baseball. He didnt cheat the game itself. He has the all time hit record and I think the best 1st baseman who ever lived. If the dude has betting problems outside the game of baseball he'll still go in because he didnt CHEAT the game itself. He will always be renembered as a sucky manager, but a great player.
Reply:No. For all this time Pete Rose has done nothing but lie to the American sports fan about his activities. I grew up watching Pete Rose during his career, and thought he was a phenominal player both offensively and defensively, but to stoop so low as to have done the things that he has done and then lie about it.....NO HOF for him
Reply:Yes, Pete Rose should be in the HOF. Any player who affected the game that greatly with his skill alone deserves to be in the HOF. I could care less if he gambled. Pete Rose was a baseball GOD there is no question. Pete deserves to be in there.

I think if he went on a ballot he'd be a unanimous pick.
Reply:Pete was an great player who worked for everything he got on the field. But he broke the cardinal sin of baseball.

Since he has accepted a lifetime ban, I think he should not be inducted until after his death.

Sad, but that's the price Pete should pay.
Reply:If Barry Bonds gets in, they better put Charlie Hustle in.
Reply:Yes I do. It should be judged by his performance on the field and not due to matters off of it. If he bet the Reds every night, then so what...... most people gamble.
Reply:Unfortunately, no. Pete was one of the best players ever. However, he gambled on baseball and he probably bet against his own team while he was a player. He cannot be in the Hall of Fame. Even if he apologized, he cannot be inducted. Certainly a tragedy, but one of Pete's own making.
Reply:Yes, Sure he gambled on games, but so what. The baseball hall of fame is supposed to be to recognize athletes who have contributed to the sport and excelled.

Pete did both. If it is supposed to be about character, then pull Babe Ruth out... he was a Gluttonous womanizer in addition to home run king.
Reply:ABSOLUTELY NOT!

NOT EVEN AS A PAYING CUSTOMER!

NOT AFTER HE'S BEEN DEAD FOR 100 YEARS!

What part of "banned from baseball for life" are you not getting? The "banned" part or the "for life" part?

And, seriously, anyone who even remotely thinks what he did was "okay" cant be REAL baseball fans.
Reply:Pete Rose is a piece of garbage who never told the truth. Now that he says he bet everyday but only on his team, how could you deny that he probably bet everyday as a player.

He is a liar who only told the truth to make money in a book, now goes again to change his story to try to make you feel sorry for him.

NO No NO no No nO no NO!
Reply:NEVER, he bet on baseball, it is that simple........
Reply:Never. He gambled on baseball.
Reply:I don't think many people would argue against Rose going into the Hall based strictly on his playing career. And personally, I didn't have a problem with him having bet on his own team to WIN. If there was proof that he ever bet AGAINST his own team, then I'd say he absolutely shouldn't ever be in the Hall. But I doubt that the HOF Veterans Committee would ever vote him in anyway... they don't seem to think anyone's qualified anymore.
Reply:NOT!!!!!! He broke the rules and he is getting what he deserves!
Reply:As a player yes as a coach no!
Reply:As a player yes. As a manager he should be tarred and feathered.

If they keep Pete out then McGwire and Bonds should not be allowed either.
Reply:I think that Pete Rose was an incredible ball player. It is a shame that people can't separate his gambling problems from his accomplishments. I'd think he should be in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Reply:In the HOF for sure! The HOF is for the fan more than anyone. It would be ashame for us to not be able to take our kids and grandkids to see great players like Pete in the HOF.

Does anyone really think the families are talking about the poor things he did to these kids? No, they're looking at those records! I have never went to a HOF and looked at a player bust and thought too negatively of anyone of them, regardless of reputations!
Reply:No.He bet on baseball,he doesn't deserve it.If he had come clean 15 years ago I would say MAYBE.But he lied to us for 12 years and then one day said"hey,I'm going to tell the truth".He expected everyone to understand and for him to be unbanned.Good player but he bet.So no.
Reply:i do...he was one of the first major leaguers to slide into home plate head first...and he was an amazing player!!

also i would like to add the he is my distant cousin! no lie!!
Reply:NO, he is a liar, and what, about a week ago, he said he bet more on baseball, then we, the fans know about, he bonds, canseco, mcwire, and sosa, need to form their own HOF, cause they r pieces of trash

( and dont forget palmero)
Reply:Yes!
Reply:yes he is one of the best clutch baseball players ever.
Reply:Yes. He didnt do what he did as a player. He should be in the Hall of Fame with the rest of the greats.
Reply:He has admitted almost everything.

I don't think he should be kept out, but just should never have a thing to do with baseball again.
