All my life i was told that i could do better. then when i think i finally did do better i get slammed. Not sure if its good or bad or something in the middle but its what it is. life is all change but the question stands is it just what we want to think when we are so fed up life? We see life through rose colored glasses everyday. we think positive in some aspect daily even if it is just for a second... it happens. but why? we get bashed, slammed, and trashed daily and yet we still think positive at least once a day about something... Maybe the "negative" people arent actually negative, maybe they just decided to take off the glasses and see life for what it is. not for what we want//hope to see it as. So, when do we do we decide its a good time to lose the glasses? and is it ever a good time? are we supposed to be hopeful so we dont lose our spirit? Should we take them off just to be more aware that we could do better???
Rose colored glasses? Something to think about?
I'm surprised more haven't answered. I think there's a certain point where you see something truly ugly about human nature where you begin to lose your innocence. The rose tinted glasses may not come off entirely, but they lose their rosiness after a time. I know that at 20 years old, I still have a lot of rosiness in my glasses, but yet I've seen things that are terrible for what they are, and sometimes it is pretty horrible.
But then, I see something beautiful. Something that outshines the ugliness of human nature. A kind word. A friendly wave. A warm smile.
From all that I've seen, I've come to this conclusion: how can you know what true beauty is until you've seen true ugliness? A lot of people ask why terrible things happen. I am convinced that terrible things happen because they make the good in this world shine out all the brighter, and there is a lot more good in this world than a lot of people dare to hope for. It is often a steep price to pay. I think of 9/11. Terrible tragedy, awful loss of life. But then I think about all the love, compassion, and self sacrifice that America showed afterwards. I wish it didn't take horrible tragedies like that to bring out the best in us, but given the alternative of no good and no evil in this world or things remaining as they are, I'd leave things as they are.
Negative events that occur in our lives are there to push our limits, help us grow as individuals, and to motivate us to spread the seeds of goodness.
Reply:I don't think that it is about rose colored glasses.
We can look for the good in some thing or we can look for the bad. There is both good %26amp; bad things in almost every thing.
We can choose if we want to look first for the good or the bad.
We should look first %26amp; hardest for the good in life.
We shouldn't put on rose colored glass to block out the bad things.
We should seek enough good %26amp; hope that we can over come the bad things.
Reply:people who think negitively are scared. they are scared to hope, the strive for something higher, because of the risk of failing. those who do not dare to take risk are doomed to never live. but if you keep a good attitude, then you will fail, and also you will succeed. success usually comes only after many failures, true optimists know this. keep the glasses on.
Reply:It's very much like the glass half-full or half-empty question. Some say half-full, others say half-empty. Both are wrong because it's only half. The glass is half-full and half-empty. If you have rose colored glasses: don't get rid of them. Seeing the other part shouldn't destroy them. The same with people who have onyx colored glasses. They should realize that there is good as well. But to say there is only good, or there is only bad, is lopsided and untrue
