Rose Petals?

Trying to find a few cups of cheap, real red rose petals, anyone know where I can find some? Online they're very expensive and come in huge amounts. Thanks!

Rose Petals?
contact a local florist and see if they have some rose petals - some shops keep them on hand.
Reply:Go to like a Michael's or Ben Franklin's craft store....or any craft store, I know they have them there for sure!!
Reply:try finding a rose plant in neighborhood and pluck a rose off. then peel off as many petals as u want. 1 rose should make 1 cupful
Reply:Look around your neighborhood. Knock on the door of someone who has roses and ask if you can collect the petals. You might also offer to trim thier rose bushes as a thank you.

Girls giving guys rose(s)?

is it weird to give my bf a rose? we've been together a long time and i figured itd be something sweet to do for him as a thank you for being the most amazing guy to me. guys, would you appreciate it if your gf got you a rose or would you find it insulting to your manhood or something?

Girls giving guys rose(s)?
a truly secure man..and a man who cares for his woman will appreciate any gesture of effection. Give him a rose, a carnation..any flowers, and he may stammer and act embarassed...but I bet he will appreciate the gesture :)
Reply:i've done that before (: but to be honest, there's nothing wrong with that; its just a sign of affection
Reply:I'd be a little confused. I like shiny things, not smelly things.
Reply:When you give him the flower don't act like you planned it out too much. Just act smiley and cute, and hand him the flower, or stick it flirtatiously behind his ear, or in his shirt pocket.

Maybe not even a rose, but a light easter-ish flower.

Rose Bush??

i was recently given a tiny rose bush as a gift from a family member. and i have no idea how to keep it alive. can u give me some information on caring for roses. its not a huge giant bush but its just a little tiny one in a pot about 3 inches tall. and 3 inches in diameter. so it is a very small. how can i keep it alive through the winter. it is inside right now and i want to replant it outside in the spring. so how do i keep my little plant alive

Rose Bush??
Actually, these tiny roses are meant to be planted outside and should be placed in a large container or in the ground as soon as possible. You can keep it inside for the winter if you like. Just find a sunny location and make sure you keep on top of the watering since it is in such a tiny pot. Miniature roses are just as hardy and winter tolerant as their larger counterparts, but it would be helpful to know what zone you are in to assist you with winterizing your rose. As soon as the last freeze of Spring is over then you may transplant your mini outside in a location that gets no less than 6 hours of full sun. From then on your rose should be just fine over winter.

Good Luck

ADDITION: If you are giving it sun and water and it is still doing poorly then the chances are that it is root bound. You might try getting a much larger container and repotting making sure you loosen the soil and unbind the roots before repotting.
Reply:These little tiny roses aren't meant to be planted outside. They usually only last a short time inside. Try giving it some fertilizer and transplanting it to a larger pot. Give it plenty of sunshine also.
Reply:Roses are not house plants BUT..... If it is still alive place it in the sunniest spot you have and water it when it gets dry. If it's not dry - don't water.

Also - you can over winter roses in an unheated garage in a dark area - they will go dormant and lose their leaves. Just remember to give them a drink every once in a while.
Reply:Rose bushes need a good bit of humidity, you can try placing the pot on a cookie sheet with a thin layer of rocks.

When you water the plant, a small amount of water will go through the pot and sit on the cookie sheet creating a small area of humidity for the plant.

Or you can spritz the plant every morning with water, using a small bit of soap in the water will also keep bugs away.

Make sure the plant has plenty of sunlight or artificial light.

When you plant it outside just make sure you pick the appropriate spot and good luck!

What does it mean to receive a rose from a stranger?

ok, i got a rose from a stranger. It was at a pre-valentine's party Saturday. i have seen the person at this club before but we don't know each other. he's never attempted to ever talk to me. And of course i completely did nothing other then the initial Thank you when he tapped me on the shoulder and gave me the rose and I said oh, thank you. He basically walked away at that point.

I feel really really bad. i thought about giving it back to him stating I can't accept it. What does it mean when someone gives you a rose? (it was red, it was being passed out at the club for the occasion. however not everyone got one. it was if someone got it to give to someone).

He tried to dance with me later on (i think he was drinking a lot and was dancing with several others) anyway, i did not. I don't like to dance with others nor really know how to.

I've been thinking that i should write him a note. Another Thank you for making me feel special with the rose. And hope he doesn't think i was a jerk

What does it mean to receive a rose from a stranger?
I dont think that you need to write him a thank you for it. But maybe next time you see him try to talk to him alittle instead of writing him a thank you, which could be very impersonal. If he gave it to you because he was to shy to talk to you, it would make him feel good, just as the rose made you feel good.
Reply:Maybe he thought you looked sad and wanted to cheer you up. I would think if he was all that interested he would have at least said something when he gave it to you.
Reply:I don't know if a stranger giving a stranger a rose at a bar has any significance. It could be he just happened to have a flower and he wanted to do something nice for a stranger or for a woman. It could be his rose was a precursor to asking you to dance.

Since you already thanked him, there's no need to write him a note. (However, if you're interested, a note could be an encouragement for him to pursue you further.)

If he pursues you, you could say something like, "Thank you for making me feel special with the rose, and thanks for asking me to dance, but I usually don't like to dance with strangers." If you want, you could invite him to sit and talk with you, or ask him a question about himself, like, "Where do you come from?"

If you're not interested, then after you've thanked him, you could add, "However, I'm sorry, but you're not the type that I like to go out with" or "I'm sorry, but I don't think it will work between us."
Reply:Did he give roses out to any other girls?

I would just take it as a compliment and nothing else. There is NO need to give him a Thank You note... like you said he had been drinking alot.
Reply:Maybe he likes you and was too shy to talk to you. Or maybe he just thought you needed a cheering up. Weird though that he did not talk to you.
Reply:Sounds like he would like to get to know you and doesn't really know how you would respond. No need to write a thank you note. If you are interested in getting to know him, just tell him thank you and start a conversation. If you have no interest, just ignore him, he will get the picture.
Reply:you have a stalker
Reply:STALKER

Haha jk jk. Maybe he's shy and couldn't thnik of anything to say, so he thought a rose would be the equivilant of "I like you."

Rose Bowl over-hyped?

This game was at college game day and espn has been talking about it all day. i dont like the match up. is it hyped up because its simply the 'Rose Bowl'?

Rose Bowl over-hyped?
I would have to say, yes, very much! I know that if the BIG 10

does not adapt to the modern offenses of the SEC, PAC10

ETC, they will continue to be left behind, and since these

venues are hyped for mostly economic reasons, it is only

logical that the game will have to equal the hype. I am from

the BIG TEN but reality is real. The money is the bottom

line, and knowing that a certain conference will almost always

lose does not create a lot of interest.
Reply:Anything you see on TV as far as sports go is almost all hype. The media itself is a commercial venture and if they don't make a lot of money they wouldn't be on the air.
Reply:The only bowl game that lives up to the hype is the national Championship game. Every other Bowl is just a "bonus" game...
Reply:Yeah. The Rose Bowl has a lot of history. I personally don't care at all about the Rose Bowl. Of course, I'm an East Coast guy.
Reply:well USC is the best team in the country !!Thats the way it is!!

touchdown USC!!
Reply:Its hyped b/c USC is ESPN's "golden boy" of the NCAA, they love them and if they were playing in the Scotty's Waste Management Bowl against Southwest Dakota St. with 0 wins all season they would be there promoting it. Garbage, Illinois doesnt deserve to be there, they are just there b/c of a stupid contract the Rose Bowl has with the Big10/Pac10 and USC is highly overrated.
Reply:pretty much
Reply:yes... the rose bowl get over-hyped every year..
Reply:Just a bit.
Reply:It's the Grand Daddy of them all. It's history. It's tradition. It's the fact that most players dream of playing in it. It may not be the matchup you want to see, but it's still the Rose Bowl regardless.

Giving a special girl a rose?

I've been friends with her for 6 months, gonna meet up for lunch soon and I was thinking of giving her a single white rose and saying when I give it to her "This is to our lifelong friendship"

She just got back into town and is going outta town again far soon to study. The reason I want to give a rose is cuz shes been one of the unique girl -friends- I've had in my lifetime. Always kind, nice and caring. Most girls I know havent been like this.

I wanna be her friend forever, and maybe 1 day things will be more cuz I know right now it cant cuz she may/doesnt like me like that. (I like her though) Is giving a single white rose too forward or is it nice and has meaning? Also yellow or white = friendship?

Thanks.

Giving a special girl a rose?

There are many different interpretations for the colors of roses. Here is one. I think I would give her a Pink rose if I was you. You are very thoughtful!! Good luck!
Reply:Well it depends on the girl. Like if she is too serious. I think you should wait.

Rose Of Sharons HELP?

Hi all, I bought 3 Rose of Sharons there came in the mail so they were only about 2 feet tall and no leaves on it so about 3 weeks ago I planted all 3 but only 1 has started to grow but the other 2 not even a hint of green. They are all alive cuz I did the scratch test so what do I do? Does it take longer for some to start growing then others? All 3 are in the ground same areas but spread out at least by 2 feet. What do I do??? Thanks all

Rose Of Sharons HELP?
I have both rose of sharon shrubs and rose of sharon trees. It will take a while for it to get established. They thrive on the hotter weather so it wont do much til later in the season. I would try fertilizer and you could try mixing in cow manure in the soil around the plants. They are in the sun right? I would hold out til much later in the season --if it doesnt grow by then keep your receipt and call for a refund. I had a rose of sharon tree that was fairly new and it was broken when a snow plow ran over it. I just wired it to make it stand up--it wasnt blooming so I was going to remove it but didnt have the time. Good thing I didnt because it started growing leaves and actually bloomed. I was amazed. Good thing I didnt have the time to dig it up.
Reply:Wait it out. Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacuse) is a warm-season shrub. They are just about the Last shrub in my area (USDA hardiness zone 5) to leaf out.

Keep your receipt, just in case.

I hope that this helps
Reply:Just give them some time to grow. They could be in shock from the transplant. Keep them moist but not overwatered.
Reply:I have rose of sharon that I planted in 98. Every year it would grow just a few leaves. I didn't go with my usual 4 yr rule for plants and just left it because it was a gift. Last year for the first time it bloomed. I guess they are slow growing. I live in zone 7. Give it time!
