Ceiling Rose and cables?

Can you put more than one cable into a ceilng rose terminal bank

Ceiling Rose and cables?
if it will fit yes you can - all u need to worry about is the weight as it might bring the ceiling down
Reply:You can generally persuade two cable terminations into each slot. Any more than that and it's difficult to get a sound connection on the screws. use a 'good' brand.

You shouldn't really have to though, there's usually a better way of arranging the cable runs.
Reply:Yes, the majority of models will take take more than one cable.
Reply:depends on the ceiling rose!!! If you get one designed for a RING MAIN you will be safe. if you have one designed for a SPUR then dont do it!!!.
Reply:normal roses have room for 2 wire connections from the switch ,supply feed to switch (live neutral %26amp;earth) another type have 8 availiable for looping live %26amp;neutral through the rose to other lights or to a fan (in a bathroom for instance) 2 for earth usually (of the 8) hope this helps, when in dought ask an electrician , not something to play with .
Reply:Most 'loop in' roses are designed to accept three twin and earth cables, with a searate terminal for each core. You could also use a 3 core and earth instead of one of the T/E if you need to. Some have more wiring space than others.
Reply:yes, it may be tight but if done properly 2 x 1.5 sq cables will fit into most three plate ceiling rose terminals. it may be easier to get one in with the out going flex #( less cluttered)
Reply:you should have three cables max. live/neutral in ,live/neutral out, switch wire/and live. otherwise it gets a bit cramped
Reply:Yes you can fit two 1.5mm's in one terminal but...

1.Its bad practice

2. You shouldn't have to: There are 3 terminals for the Switch live, 4 for the loop in and 4 for the neutral and all the cables you normally have at a ceiling rose are feed in feed out and your switch live twin and earth.
