"A Rose for Emily"?

I need to write a paper for English class. For the paper, I have to use two types of critical theory to analyze "A Rose for Emily." I have read the story, I am just having trouble using critical theory to analyze the story. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! (I can't use Psychoanalytical Theory). Thanks!

"A Rose for Emily"?
Critical Theory is an unusual way to analyze a story. It is pretty complicated and what it really means depends on who writes about it. I think literary would be more appropriate.

However, you could use:

Reception and Reader-Response Theory

Genre Criticism

Those two would work for the story.

You can read more about them at:
