BTW Reggie Bush and Matt Lienart are both weak Bust in the league and it is far beyond the injuries. They were just 2 overated college players who stole Hiesmen awards.

There is a 13.5 point spread in favor of USC.

Here's the reasons why there's a spread that large for a BCS bowl game-



1. Illinois has no passing game. making them one dimensional.

2. Yes Juice is a good QB, and will develop over time, but USC did a very good job in containing the best spread QB this year, in Dennis Dixon.

3. USC is top 3 in Rush defense, and is very experienced all around.

4. USC has the one of the quickest defenses around, while the Ilini has an experience offensive front, they haven't seen a defense this quick this year.

5. Illini's pass defense is not exceptional, meaning Booty and his much improved WR's should get plenty of yards, and opportunties to go deep.

6. USC offense as a whole is good all around w/ their blue-chips.



Personally, Illinois should never have been chosen for any BCS bowl. It would have been nice to see a USC-Georgia or -Oklahoma game.



If the Illini do upset the Trojans, it would be because the Trojans did it to themselves by not taking this game seriously. But I think they've learned from their Stanford loss.

What this means: Yes, if USC makes alot more mistakes than usual, Illinois has a turnover margin or +3 or more and plays near perfect than Illinios can win.



This is how Stanford beat USC and how Illinois beat Ohio State, similar to Oklahoma - Colorado.



If USC and Illinois played 20 times, I would give odds that the Illini would win 3 times. So here we have game number 1, will this be one of the 3? Could be!



Now since this is a bowl game I am going to increase the odds from 15% to 30% and here is why! USC has a ton of blue chips with pro prospects and $$$$ on the mind. They actually run a pro system that translates to the pros with success so thier ability to play is already tangible to scouts and frankly the SRs have a lot more to lose should the suffer injury.



Illini runs the spread. So they have a lot more to prove, with a lot fewer players as potential drafts picks and history says NFL success out of a spread system. So this is the end of the line for a lot more of these guys.
