I am thinking of getting a tarantula but most of my family is scared of them my 15 year old brother is so scared he will cry if he see one and my mom is scared of them too but my 5 year old baby sister isn't scared and is there way to convince them and getting a chilean rose. My mom was scared of snakes and i got one after telling why they make good pets but my mom won't let me talk to her about tarantula. Also are taranula mammals or insects.
Chilean Rose Tarantula?
i have had several of these over the years. They make a very neat pet that is easy to care for. let your family know that they are a very docile species that rarely bites. If it does bite it will be the equivalent of a bee sting. you don't need to buy two cages. i screened lid will be fine. a tarantula is not going to be able to push the lid up to escape(actually this species is Terrestrial so it wont climb normally)..if you prefer something secure try this site...http://www.tarantulacages.com/index.html
they make really nice cages that have locking hasps. I let my 4 year old and 6 year old hold ours all the time. i actually took it to their school a couple of weeks ago and it was held by about 30 kids.
Reply:Tarantulas are arachnids. And if the whole family is freaked out, you might have a tough time of it. I am not crazy about them, but I did hold one once. It was not nearly as weird as I thought it would be, but I don't want one either.
You could try to get the most escape-proof cage that you can find, and then get one, to comfort those in your family that are creeped out. Or you could wait until you live on your own, and get one then.
