Who would you pick #1 if you were the BULLS GM?
Would you Pick Derrick Rose, or Michael Beasley, or would you pick a different player and why? Or would you try to make a Blockbuster trade with another team?
Explain your choice.
Rose or Beasley ?
They absolutely need to take Derrick Rose here. He's the best player in the draft and Beasley isn't big enough to play power forward or center for a NBA team. Not to mention last year the Bulls drafted Joakim Noah (6'11") and Aaron Gray (7'0") and midway through the season traded with Cleveland and got Gooden (6'11"). The Bulls are stacked at the Guard position and would be much better off drafting Rose and using some of their 6 other Guards as trade bait. I've heard talks of trading for Carmelo whic wouldn't be a bad move for them, but we do need a big guy to score in the paint. The Bulls would be stupid to pass on Rose.
Reply:If I were the Bulls' GM, I'd trade the top pick for veteran help in the low post, which they desperately need. The Bulls have proven themselves to be inept at developing new, young players. Tyson Chandler was with Chicago and was mediocre, at best. But, he's blossoming with New Orleans and will only get better. Eddy Curry is playing better in New York than he was in Chicago. Tyrus Thomas has so much athletic ability and so much potential, but the Bulls play him 6-8 minutes per game. At the end of the season, when the playoffs were out of reach, Thomas should have been on the floor for 48 minutes getting all the experience he could; instead, he spent most of his time on the bench. He'll be a monster stud player with another team, but Chicago is not the place for him, which makes me very sad as a lifelong Bulls fan.
The only rookies that have done well with the Bulls are those that didn't need development help from the team organization anyway because they were/are so good: Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Elton Brand, Kirk Hinrich to name a few.
If I had to choose between Rose and Beasley, I'd pick Beasley because they need help in the post. The Bulls are already overloaded with guards in Hinrich, Gordon, and Duhon. Plus, Hinrich signed a 5-year extension. Since Gordon refused his extension offer, then perhaps he can be traded, and the Bulls can draft Rose to replace Gordon.
Reply:I gotta admit, OJ Mayo is a great candidate...but I can't put him ahead of Beasley. The Bulls can't trade that first pick away unless they get ridiculous value back. However after they draft one of the top guards in the draft, they will end up trading either Gordon or Hinrich afterwards. They're stacked in every position, so I have no idea what they would really be looking to get. I expect a superstar being added to the mix in Chicago. Who knows, maybe even Melo? Nah...
Reply:Rose is a breath taking athlete with terrific size for the point guard position at 6-4 … His upside is truly special … An absolutely dazzling dunker with blinding speed … Likely to be the most athletic PG in the league for years to come … A point guard in the truest sense of the word. His development in this area has been phenomenal in the past 2 years (which is apparent when you read his profile from a year and a half ago) … Knows how to run a team, and raises the level of play of his teammates … A pass-first point guard with excellent court vision … Has a rare ability to create passing lanes — finding and creating shots for teammates who do not appear to be open … A relentless defender with quick hands and length
Reply:I would take Derrick Rose and I bet thats what they are going to do. They need a true guard and Rose is a perfect example. Someone said that he is Jason Kidd with a jump shot. That should speak for itself. Guards are hot right now in the game and the Bulls need to have a good solid player to compete with the elite.
Reply:They should take Rose. Both players are talented, but point guards (smaller players) usually adapt faster to the pace of the nba than do the big men. Beasley seems like an undersized power forwards and theres no telling how he's going to perform in a league where every game he's going to go up against bigger forwards and centers. Rose reminds me of Baron Davis, and should be able to contribute right away. Move Hinrich for a big man after they draft rose.
Reply:If i was the Bulls gm i would take beasley in a heart beat.... they don't need a pg... they have hinrich and chris duhon....the only thing thats stopping them is their low post deficiency..... If they take beasley they will have a lineup that will take them to the post season for years....
Hinrich PG, Hughes/Gordon SG, Deng SF, Beasley PF, Gooden/THomas C
THere is no point taking a point guard when the obvious need on the team is a low post scorer.
Reply:i would take Beasley because he is great all around player and i think that his game will translate better on the NBA level than Rose's will, but they are both great players, the Bulls need to get another big man, so i would definately go with Beasley over Rose based on what the team needs.
Reply:If you ask me they should draft Derrick ROse... they say he's a younger version of jason kidd... plus he's a good leader... Chicago really needs a playmaker like him...
Reply:Beasley. He was the most consistant player and Rose only skyrocketed up team's boards by his team's run in the NCAA.
Reply:I would take rose. He can really do everything. He's gonna be a triple-double down the road.
Reply:i would take michael beasley...he a monster,he will be rookie of the year for wut ever team he plays on...
Reply:Rose he will be a great point I see Beasley being like Carmelo Anthony
Reply:rose
Reply:Personally, I think that Beasley is a no-brainer as he fills the void of a post-scorer and probably a star that the Bulls so sorely need. After that, they have two voids to fill. They lack both a true center and a true point guard. Yes, Hinrich and Noah fill those positions, but Noah should be a forward/center off the bench and Hinrich should be a starting 2 guard who can move to the point when another 2 guard comes in. They are also too deep in the 2 and 4 spots and will have to lose at least a couple of players at these positions. I think they should try to go for Mike Conley to fill the pg spot, he is young with a knack for his position, and Memphis is overloaded at pg with 3 potential starters. The Grizzlies would likely want someone low on pay to replace him at either the 2 or 3 spot... Perhaps Tyrus Thomas and/or Thabo Sefalosha.
