in 1984 what happened to Pete Rose the morning he was about to break the all time run hits?
What Cincinnati Reds pitcher walked him 3 times in a row, so he would not get the record in Cincinnati?
Who did Pete Rose give the ball to after he broke the record?
IF YOU GET THESE, YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!
Who walked Pete Rose 3 times in Cincinnati?
I think it was Frank Pastore. I was at that game sitting about 15 rows from the field and it got pretty nasty towards the end. It was an afternoon business day special at Riverfront Stadium and the Expos were leaving Cincinnati after the game so it was our last chance to see Pete get hit 4000. After the third walk the field started getting covered by beer cups, batteries and other projectiles.
Rose broke the hits record 2 years later while playing for the Reds and I think he gave the ball to his son.
Reply:1. Rose set the major league career hits record in 1985, and never did take the runs scored record.
2. As a Reds player, Rose did not face Reds pitching.
3. Pete Jr.
If you're wondering about Rose's 4000th hit, which did come in 1984 when he was with Montreal, he was walked four times in a game in Cincinnati while sitting on 3999 hits. Reds pitcher Bruce Berenyi served up three of those walks. He got hit #4000 two days later at home against Philadelphia.
