Rose-dye experiment?

i cut the stem of a white rose and dipped the cut part in blue food coloring, and it turned blue. can anyone explain to me scientifically what happened?

The flower turnes blue.
Reply:the canals of the plants are very narrowed, like capillaries and by a physic law they absorb the liquids in which are placed and so it turned into blue .search physic :capillarity
