I think that he should be inducted as a PLAYER. Not as a manager and there should be an asterisk next to his name. He didn't do it as a player so why not? He owns the most hits of all time. And I understand betting on your own team is wrong but... it was an addiction. Baseball did flips to help all the guys in the 80's (or at least did nothing to punish them). Why didn't baseball step in and offer the guy some help? I say put him in the hall of fame but keep him banned from baseball in the sense that he can never manage or participate directly again.

Reply:If they give Barry Bonds the official record for home runs.. I think they will have to reevaluate things like the decision to ban Pete Rose from baseball forever.

It would be a blatent double standard to allow one to thrive in the glory and not the other.

Having the home run record and being a hall of fame inductee are about equals from a status perspective.





For poster.. max ... there is also a no steroids rule.. it is not humanly possible to double body mass after the age of 30 without artificial means. Take a look at Bonds and his home runs year by year.. it becomes very obvious from that perspective.

Reply:Yes,.... purest hitter in all of baseball. People make mistakes and I don't think he tried to make the Reds lose when/if he bet against them so that he would win more. If Bonds gets in, Pete Rose should definitely make it. At least Pete Rose's gambling didn't affect who lost/won a game.
Reply:Today is Pete's birthday. If you can make it to the Reds Hall of Fame they are giving away 8x10 pictures of Charlie Hustle. As for your question, there is no doubt that Rose belongs in the HOF. Of course, as you probably know, Pete is more proud of the fact that he played in more winning games than having more hits than anyone else. I went to the HOF as a kid, but until they induct Pete I would never go back to that monument to hypocrisy! Pete Rose forever Bud Selig never!

Reply:Yes. Pete Rose was the best hitter ever to take the field. Ty Cobb killed people and he is in the hall. So if you want the best in the Hall of fame you need to put in Pete Rose.
Reply:I agree that Pete Rose as a player has earned to has some sort of mention in the HOF, being a Cincinnatian I do think he deserves enshirment. That being said I asterik should be placed in regards to his mangerial career. Pete Rose is show a shinning example of a player geting the most out of his talent. I am not sure if any other player got so much out of so little.
