Could I be Rose Queen?

I go to one of the schools that is eligible for participation in the rose parade. For the past 2 years, I have played as a 'herald trumpet' in the parade (those 9 trumpeters that march in a wedge right before the rose queen) but this year I can try out to be on the court. If I try out, there is a very slim chance I would make it, but if I do, I can't try out for herald trumpets. What do I do? I really want to do one or the other.



Would I even have a chance of being on the court?

please be honest... should I stick with playing trumpet in the parade? Or would I have a chance of being on the court? (doesn't have to be Queen)



FYI, don't worry about hurting my feelings. I honestly want to know what to do. Also, I look really young for 16, would that affect it?

I'm a lifetime SoCal resident - the last 9 near Pasadena. If it were looks, you would probably be a candidate, but it's not about looks, it's about polish.



1. How are your grades? If you are a senior, have something close to a 4.0 GPA, with some honors classes, you've got something. A 'B+' average will get you in the door, but you won't be a favorite.



2. Flowing dress. High heels. Complete makeup. Hair perfect. When you do that, are you comfortable? If you are a casual dresser, that doesn't spend much time on that kind of stuff, then you're my kind of girl, but not the Rose Queen type.



3. Rose Queens spend hours, days, talking with people. Are you a strong speaker, one who can always say just the right thing at the right time? They will test you on this - you will be in the spotlight a lot, and they expect perfection.



4. Bonus questions: Do you do community service stuff? Volunteer? Political stuff isn't good, but issues (environment, health care for little kids or elderly, poverty and the homeless) is great.



Rose queen is a perfect young woman. Why? Because the Tournament of Roses is Pasadena's "Perfection Organization". To some, they seem stuffy, maybe even a bit rude or 'fake'. But the are among the classiest organizations in the world, the finest people from one of the world's finest areas.



If you are someone who can be 'perfect' from October to January, and have proven that in the past, you might qualify. If not, your presence as herald (especially a possible 3-time herald!) is a killer honor, one that you should treasure like gold.
